Situated down a private road and opposite a duck pond teeming with wildlife and visiting birds, Hael Farm Cottage is perfect as a base to explore everything the Gower Peninsula has to offer.
The holiday cottage can accommodate up to 5 adults and is dog friendly, featuring an ‘upside down’ layout to make the most of the stunning open countryside view upstairs. The ground floor comprises a twin bedroom with ensuite and a double bedroom – both of which have French doors leading out onto a paved area – as well as a single bedroom and family bathroom.
An open plan layout upstairs, with two further sets of French doors and Juliet balconies, makes the most of those countryside views. A fully equipped kitchen includes an induction hob, microwave, fridge, freezer, dishwasher, washing machine and tumble dryer. A generously proportioned dining area with table and chairs is adjacent to a sitting area benefiting from a log burner, comfortable sofas and a smart TV with Sky.
Due to the upside-down layout of the cottage, we do request that dogs are kept out of the bedrooms.
Private parking is available for 2 vehicles and the cottage is adjacent to the owner’s farmhouse.
The walled cottage garden is a haven for enjoying the serenity of the cottage’s location and is also perfect for those summer BBQs. The cottage is dog friendly and outside has a grassed area (more than 1 acre) where your furry friends can burn off any spare energy!
A stone’s throw from the cottage is the bridle path which leads down into ‘hidden’ Bishopston Valley and its limestone caves, underground rivers, and ancient woodland before opening out into Pwll Du Bay, one of Gower’s most beautiful and secluded beaches and a notorious smugglers’ route until the early 1800s.
In the other direction, and just half a mile on foot from the cottage, is Pobbles Pizza (takeaway only), Gower Deli, Pennard Stores, The Cliff Restaurant and Three Cliffs Coffee Shop (which is dog friendly) – a great place to stock up on essentials and enjoy a coffee or something to eat before or after your cliff walk. From there you can access the coastal path which takes you to Pobbles Beach and the picture-perfect Three Cliffs Bay.
In addition to the dog-friendly Three Cliffs Coffee Shop, Southgate has Pennard Golf Club and the Southgate Club, both of which offer great coffee through to dining options and are open to non-members.
The holiday cottage is let on a Saturday to Saturday basis during most school holidays, whilst stays of a shorter duration are welcomed outside these dates.
